Responded to a possible recall on a previously installed heat pump system following a TXV replacement, with the evaporator coil reported frozen and airflow lost after the repair. Referenced manufacturer charging charts and blower airflow data (CFM at 0.5" W.C. external static pressure) to verify refrigerant charge, subcooling, and airflow, and evaluated the system for the cause of the recurring freeze-up. Inspections were found to be unrelated to the original TXV work.

Replaced the thermostatic expansion valve (TXV) on a system previously installed by our company. The failed TXV was removed from the evaporator coil assembly, and a new replacement valve was installed with the sensing line properly positioned. The evaporator coil showed no signs of frost or ice, and the unit was left operating correctly.
